Celebrating the 30th year of Network Group has led us to reflect on the last three decades, from the growth of our community to our events and the future. In a series of articles, we’ll be sharing what makes Network Group the incredible community it is today and we’ll be hearing experiences from some of our exec team.

We’re starting off by taking a look at the power of our community.

The power of relationships

Over 30 years, Network Group has established itself as a vibrant community that supports each other to grow and succeed. Made up of MSPs, IT Resellers and Retailers, our Members and Partners work together for the benefit of everyone in the Group.

Building trusted relationships is at the heart of our community, it allows people to learn, support and collaborate with each other, keeping each other focused and on the track to success.

Here’s what our Chairman, Mike Morgan had to say about our Network Group community.

“I’m deeply inspired that as a group we are truly transformative and the sheer potential we have as a peer network, especially when I hang around people who nurture within the group and have that growth mindset.

Network group underpins a philosophy of continuous learning and mutual support, these are, in my mind, pivotal in shaping an environment where innovation thrives and knowledge transcends.”

Thriving in the channel

The Network Group community is thriving. This is down to the dedication and drive of our Members who are continually looking at ways to be at the forefront of the industry.

Austen Clark, Network Group’s Event Director was asked ‘What’s the most valuable takeaway from the group?’ Here’s what he said …

“As a member-led organisation it truly is a community of businesses that want the best for one another. Members play their part on a continued basis to support and develop change in the industry. With notable examples of developing leading Technology vendors and Distribution in the UK, NG has been at the fore of developing unique partnerships, having achieved recognition and awards as a leader in the UK’s IT community.”

The Network Group community

As this article is all about community, it’s always incredible to hear firsthand accounts of how the NG community has helped individuals over the years. Former Executive Director, Mark Matthews, shared his experience of Network Group, from the challenges he faced to the support he received.

“I have quite a few examples, but will mention two …

The sheer amount I’ve grown as a person from being involved in NG is astonishing. For example, I remember Phylip Morgan calling me to tell me I was doing a talk to NG Members in Telford with three days' notice.

I had never spoken on stage before, and if the truth was to be known, I had never even opened PowerPoint, let alone created a presentation. The talk I did went well as Phylip knew it would because he had more confidence in me than I did. Because of Phylip pushing me out of my comfort zone, I have since gone on to speak all over the world to hundreds of people on - the power of a defined culture and values in your business.

My second example is about the power of the NG community. From my experience, people look to join NG for all sorts of reasons, but near the top of most people's list is money; how much can I buy cheaper? How much more profit can I make? How much is it going to cost me to join? These are areas that we can quite easily quantify and put a £ number on, but one thing we can't ever put a value on comes from the relationships we have built over the years with other members and suppliers. I have no problem being vulnerable to Members on any issues I’m having in my business as I believe strongly that being vulnerable to those around you is a power, not a weakness.”

The future of Network Group
