Why should you go to the CompTIA EMEA Member & Partner Conference? from Perry Ashby Co-Founder & CEO at Urban Network UK

Conference Season

Every industry has a “conference season”, a time of the year where all the great and good meet to discuss the past, present and future trends that may affect their business. These events always seem to be consolidated into a 4-6 week period and will have every vendor reaching out to let you know where they are exhibiting and why you should come and speak to them at their stand.

For my industry, the IT sector, this period is September/October and it's been a hectic couple of weeks! We all know that our time is precious and you want to ensure that any time spent travelling and attending these events add value to you or your business in some capacity. I personally feel that these events and conferences are an important aspect of helping me grow on many levels. I recently wrote a blog outlining why you should attend conferences, you can find this here (https://www.urbannetwork.co.uk/7-reasons-why-networking-events-are-important-for-your-business/)

There is one conference and organisation in the UK that over the last 3 years just got better and better with every event they run. CompTIA are the world’s largest tech association and are vendor neutral. This allows them to focus on IT advocacy, both within and external to our industry, to provide a voice at a global level for all its members. CompTIA fosters an environment for its members to succeed in information technology, delivering an edge in a competitive marketplace.

There are many regional events throughout the year and these are well worth attending as they offer so much information and education for anyone working within this field. You can view upcoming events and watch historical webinars here (https://www.comptia.org/events)

CompTIA EMEA Member & Partner Conference

The headline event in the UK for CompTIA is their EMEA Member and Partner Conference, and as expected the agenda is outstanding.

With presentations on GDPR from the great Jim Sneddon, keynotes on Blockchain and Digital Transformation and CompTIA’s very own “unconference” session, day 1 is looking to be packed. Day 2 focusses on Cyber Security with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) presenting in the morning. CompTIA are also running the Cyber Challenge, to get as many Service Providers as possible certified for Cyber Essentials, you can find more on this great campaign here (https://www.comptia.org/communities/uk-channel/comptia-mentor-programme)

If you can’t find anything interesting to attend in this agenda then you may be in the wrong job!

The dates are 17th & 18th October and is being held at the etc.venues at County Hall in London. You can find more information by clicking here (https://www.comptia.org/emea/home)  You may even be able to attend the event for free (dependant on criteria) or if you contact me directly I may be able to source a Try-before-you-buy ticket. Nonetheless, this event is well worth the £200 fee to attend and will offer so much for you that it really is a good investment of your time and money.

In summation, if you want to understand what the future holds in our industry but without the vendor bias that is so evident at many conferences, then this is the event for you.
