Managed Print Services

IT Resellers are typically seen as “Trusted Advisors” – The Good Guys by their clients; who turn to them for advice on many things… many times this includes office printing and will often be from the customers print/copy provider looking for IT help with their mutual client; so why not take the rewards opposed to just the problems for this?  Managed Print Services or MPS has been a buzz for quite some time now, with a land grab by IT firms, telcos, office products companies, even IT Distribution – of which most have not succeeded!

So why have people tried to enter this marketplace? There are 3 simple reasons really: –

  1. Win more new business – a different route to market from your traditional approach which can win business for office print first and hopefully IT later.
  2. Secure existing customers – just as you should be diversifying, you may well find that print/copy organisations (or others) will be approaching your clients to provide IT services – by adding print to your portfolio you can secure your customer relationships further.
  3. To sleep better at night!  Managed Print is a way of growing your recurring revenues and securing your business now and future – based upon more than just goodwill.

Great reasons to be involved – what are potential providers waiting for?

There are 3 ways to enter this marketplace: –

  1. By a print/copy firm!  It’s been happening at top level with Capita buying firms, SCC buying established providers for example and of course that scales the other way – but how easy is it to find those opportunities or indeed where they do exist are you in a position to fund them?
  2. Employ a sales guy / MPS Specialist – can be a great idea but Sales Professionals do not always come cheap or more to the point how can you ensure success, management in a world that may be alien to you without burning some serious money if you are not careful?
  3. Partner with an MPS business; the print/copy industry has an “interesting” reputation and we know good partnerships can and do exist but there is big warning sign saying “tread with care” and do you really want to give them your customer and most of the goodness!?!

Luckily for you, as a Member of Network Group / TTG you have an additional route to market… one which is not only low risk but is also low cost!  We have a thriving Managed Print Programme within the group, with an agnostic approach although strong commercials in place with Samsung, HP, Develop (Konica Minolta) and Epson – which allow you to enjoy not only the goodness of hardware profit but ongoing contracted toner and ink via a managed service for your customers.  With trained engineers, you can enjoy the fulness of profit available, although this may, of course, be a journey where you first outsource to your fellow members, selected third parties or the manufacturer themselves with a view to “calling back” that service in time when you are ready and up to speed.

As said many outside the Group looking to enter the MPS space have tried and failed – our difference is that you have access to a skilled Programme Director / Coach who drives the TTG Programme and allows you to draw upon their experience if you choose to plan your approach, help you recruit, train, talk with your customers, review contracts and be there to help you succeed as part of our MPS community; we now have some member companies making more money from Print than the other areas of their business!

It’s true that print was never sexy but it still remains a necessity within most businesses – why not get involved?  You are perfectly positioned – is there a better time than now?
